The ACT is accepted at many colleges and preferred at some. Students to should consult their guidance counselor to see if they should take the ACT. The ACT contains multiple-choice tests in four areas: English, Math, Reading, and Science. The Writing section of the test is optional. The ACT Academy includes on-line registration and a variety of free test prep resources.

In some cases it may benefit a student to take both the SAT and the ACT. These exams provide a path to opportunities, financial support and scholarships.
