CCTEC’s Culinary students Kendall Wells, Ismael Torres, Quinn Reilly, Mariajose Rivera, Briza Macias and Jazmari Vidro all participated in the New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) 9th Annual County Vocational Technical School Cook-Off challenge. CCTEC's Construction students, Paige Dietterick and Dennis Groshev helped build the dugout set. The Culinary Arts and Construction Trades programs are led by instructors Mr. Shawn McDonnell and Chefs Robert Ohlsen and Michael Aliberti. The event was held on May 6th, 2022 at the Palladium Ballroom at Caesars Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. Students were tasked with creating and developing an appetizer, “The Grand Slam Burger Dog,” that corresponded with a theme within their hometown. Consistent with baseball player Mike Trout, a baseball dugout and unique props truly established authenticity. The students prepared approximately 450 appetizers, judged by members of the NJAC committee, chefs and the general public. CCTEC students received a Silver award for Taste and a 1st Place $1,000 prize for Peoples’ Choice. Congratulations to all the students and intructors for their hard work!
