On Friday, May 10th, students from the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program competed in the annual NJAC culinary competition held at Caesar’s Atlantic City.
The team of students had to prepare and serve 350 people a one-bite fully composed appetizer while still meeting the strict competition guidelines. Under the direction of Chef Rob Ohlsen and Chef Mike Aliberti, CCTEC students worked together and created a crispy corn tortilla with beef brisket, jalapeño relish, and avocado crema.
This year’s competition theme focused on representing the individual counties of New Jersey. CCTEC students chose to represent the Delsea Drive-In, complete with a mock drive-in structure made by students from the Constructions Trades Program.
At the end of the day, CCTEC took home the following awards for their hard work:
- People’s Choice Award- Gold
- Judge’s Award- Silver
- Chef’s Award- Bronze
